Fluoridated water has been a hot issue in dental circles over the last few years. A recent study questioned fluoridated water. This referenced study was based on areas located in China with much higher doses of fluoride in the ground water when compared to cities in the US. It should be noted that fluoride is a naturally occuring element in ground water. You may have heard from our doctors that we do not necessarily support adding fluoride to the water supply, however, topical fluoride is an excellent element when applied directly to the teeth. Topical fluoride helps fight decay, decreases sensitivity, strengthens teeth, and in some cases even reverses cavities in early stages. Current American Dental Association information on fluoride can be seen below. Tea is a significant source of fluoride and provides many other health benefits.
